HealthAlert® is developed for surveillance of notifiable diseases. The application is designed for healthcare providers – doctors, nurses and allied health professionals – from public and private health facilities as well as patients, their families and communities for generating an alert on notifiable diseases. HealthAlert® turns fragmented reporting into comprehensive surveillance of outbreaks and epidemic-prone diseases. Resultantly, the application strengthens the surveillance systems, particularly in low-resource and developing countries to React, Report and Respond to public health hazards through:

• Alert generation – secure data transmission in a timely manner
• Technical guidelines – easy access to standardized medical protocols
• Real-time notification – quick flow of information collection, synthesis and analysis for rapid response

How does HealthAlert® work?

After installing the app, you can start using it without having to pay any fee after entering basic information to register your account. Any user can generate alerts about the cases of outbreak and epidemic-prone diseases.

There are 5 tabs to operate the app:

5. Contact Support

Report New Case

- A list of priority notifiable diseases is uploaded in the application by default.
- Open this tab, and scroll up and down to see the complete list of uploaded diseases, OR write down name of any disease in the search box.
- Enter the number of patient(s) or case(s) against relevant disease(s). If unsure about disease, seek advice from ‘Consult Guidelines’ tab.
- To report only number of specific suspected cases, choose to “skip” patient details.
- To report details of each case, select “yes” when clicking on “enter case details”. Enter details of each case separately in each form by scrolling.
- After filling in the patient details, click ‘submit’ to complete reporting on new case(s).

Alerts & Advisories

- Here you can access current government advisories and alerts on seasonal diseases.

Consult Guidelines

- Click the Read button to see brief guidelines (signs, symptoms, diagnosis, management and prevention) about the disease.
- Click on ‘FOR DETAILED GUIDELINES’ to access further description of the disease like disease introduction, clinical picture, case definitions, case management, preventive measures and vaccination.

Reporting History

- Here, the user can view the log of their reported case(s).
- Reporting History shows the number of patients of each disease, along with the date on which the information was reported.

- Use this tab to contact the HealthAlert® team for any feedback/query. Write brief description under ‘Subject’ and your message in the space provided.
