"GPS Taxi Meter" is an app that uses your smartphone's GPS to calculate fares in real time based on distance traveled and elapsed time.

More than just a distance calculation app, it employs calculation logic that takes into account the taxi-specific mechanism of switching to an hourly fare system when speeds drop below 10 km/h (a combined time-distance system).

The fare is calculated accurately even when waiting at red lights, in traffic jams, or traveling slowly, making it useful for a variety of applications, including reference calculations for designated driving services, estimates for pickup fees, and estimated gas costs.

■ Main Features

🚕 Real-time fare display: Measures distance traveled and elapsed time based on GPS location information and displays fares in real time.

⏱️ Supports combined time-distance system: Calculates fares based on distance while driving, and automatically switches to a time-based fare system when waiting at red lights, in traffic jams, or traveling slowly (below 10 km/h).

🛣️ Highway Mode: This mode disables time-based calculations when driving on highways and calculates based solely on distance.

■ Current Fare Settings: This app's fares are calculated using the following fixed settings (the ability to change these settings is not currently available).

Base fare: ¥450 / up to 1.0 km

Additional fare: ¥80 / added for every 255 m

Time-distance combined: Applies when speeds are 10 km/h or less

Late-night surcharge: 20% increase between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM

■ Recommended Uses:

For reference in designated driving services: As a supplementary calculation tool to keep track of distance and time.

For private car transfers: Calculate the approximate cost of gas and a gratuity when transferring passengers to or from the station or airport.

For splitting fare: As a reference when dividing up expenses for road trips or long-distance trips.

For fare simulation: When you want to check the approximate cost of using a taxi.

■ Precautions

Regarding GPS Accuracy: Positioning errors may occur in environments where GPS signals are difficult to receive, such as inside tunnels, underground, or in areas with high-rise buildings.

Calculation Limitations: Calculations may not proceed in indoor locations where GPS signals cannot be received.

Legal Disclaimer: This app is not an official taximeter (specified measuring instrument) under Japan's Weights and Measures Act. Please use it only as a personal guide or for calculation purposes based on mutual agreement between the parties.

Battery Consumption: Battery consumption occurs due to background operation and the use of the always-on screen function. We recommend using the app while charging.

Compliance with Laws: Transporting people for a fee using a private vehicle (so-called illegal taxi operations) is prohibited by law. We do not recommend using this app for commercial purposes without a license from the transportation business.
