Curo Beach Classic Repeater. The Bullfinch has the scientific name of Sporophila angolensis. It belongs to the Thraupidae family and in English is known as Chestnut-bellied Seed-Finch.

Cuió is also known as vinegar and rice porridge. There are close relatives of our Bullfinch in Nigeria and California, but they differ from ours in plumage and singing. The name curió, in the Tupi Guarani language, means “Friend of Man”, as this bird liked to live near the village of the Indians. Bullfinch breeding is currently large due to its beautiful singing.
In Brazil, around 128 different types of curio songs have been found. Usually characterized by being from certain regions of the country. The most known and disseminated songs were those that had the differentiated quality of repetition. Among them we can highlight Viteu (Bahia), Vi Vi Te Teu (Pernambuco), Vovo Yiviu (Alagoas), the Paracambi chant (Rio de Janeiro), Catarina (Santa Catarina), Timbira (Maranhão) and finally the Curió Praia Classico the famous Praia Grande (São Paulo coast).
In nature, male curios usually learn to sing with their father. This makes the puppies need to stay close to a good singer or singing CD. Remember that when learning to sing the puppies must be separated from their parents and also from other puppies. If you have two puppies, put them in different cages, and keep them near the cage or nursery the parent is in. Don't let one puppy see another. If the bullfinch puppies see each other, they may fight, thus hindering learning.
The Bullfinch is an excellent imitator, so if it hears the singing of other birds, it will inevitably end up singing like them, so be very careful that the chicks only hear their father's song. At approximately 6 months the puppies will already be singing as well as their teacher.
