App Description
Secure messaging
Council is the messaging app built for people who refuse to trust a server with their secrets.
You create the encryption key. You share it on your terms. You burn it when you're done. No server, no admin, no government, and no future quantum computer can read your messages — because the keys never leave your hands.
HOW IT WORKS
Every Council network is locked with a passphrase that only its members know. Keys are derived on your device using Argon2id — the server never sees them, stores them, or mediates their exchange. When you type your passphrase, your device does the math. The server just moves ciphertext.
On top of that, every device holds a unique secret protected by ML-KEM-768 (Kyber) post-quantum key encapsulation. Even if your passphrase were compromised, an attacker would still need physical access to your device to decrypt a single message.
QUANTUM-RESISTANT FROM DAY ONE
Most encrypted messengers use algorithms that quantum computers will eventually break. Council doesn't wait for "eventually." Every layer of the protocol — key derivation, key encapsulation, message encryption — uses quantum-resistant cryptography (ML-KEM-768, AES-256, SHA-512). Your messages are protected against threats that don't exist yet.
BURN WHEN DONE
When you burn a Council network, it's not a UI trick. Encryption keys are destroyed in a cryptographic cascade — what's left on the server is indistinguishable from random noise. No forensic recovery. No server-side backups. Gone.
NO SOCIAL MAPPING
Council never asks for your phone number or access to your contacts. There is no social graph to leak, sell, or subpoena. You join networks with a passphrase — not a phone number.
DENIABLE BY DESIGN
Messages in Council are authenticated within your group but cannot be cryptographically attributed to any individual outside of it. There is no digital signature tying a message to your identity.
KEY FEATURES
• User-controlled encryption keys — you create, share, and destroy them
• Post-quantum cryptography (ML-KEM-768) built into every layer
• Burn networks permanently — forensics-safe cascade deletion
• No phone number or contact list required
• Encrypted media sharing — photos, videos, GIFs, and files
• Device-bound secrets — passphrase alone is not enough to decrypt
• Deniable authentication — no proof of authorship outside the group
• Works on iOS and Android
