App Description
A graphical tool to help understand the operations of the FFT
This app is a simple, interactive learning tool designed to help you visualize and understand the basics of the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT).
Please Note: This is an educational sandbox, not a real-time audio analyzer. It is designed to demonstrate how an FFT works by deconstructing simple, computer-generated waves, not to analyze external audio signals.
How It Works
The app provides a hands-on environment for learning with four main charts:
Wave-A & Wave-B: Two simple, individual waves.
Composite Wave: The sum of Wave-A and Wave-B.
FFT Chart: A graph showing the FFT of the composite wave, breaking it down into its core frequencies.
Interactive Learning Tools
To help you experiment, the app includes several controls:
Waveform Sliders: Adjust the frequency (10Hz to 600Hz) and phase (0 to 2π) for Wave-A and Wave-B to see in real-time how these changes affect the composite wave and its resulting FFT.
Waveform Selection: Choose between Sine, Triangle, and Square waves to explore how different wave shapes appear in the frequency domain.
Audio Playback: Listen to each individual wave or the final composite wave to connect the visual representation with its corresponding sound.
Chart Interaction: Touch any point on a waveform to see its precise numerical value.
A quick note on audio: Due to the limitations of phone speakers, low frequencies (below 150Hz) for Sine and Triangle waves might be inaudible. However, Square waves should be audible down to 10Hz.
In short, FFT Explorer & Audio is a perfect resource for students, hobbyists, and anyone curious about the fundamentals of wave interaction and spectral analysis in a controlled, easy-to-understand environment.
