App Description
Easy & reliable kids mode that lets parents control the apps children can access
Created by a parent, EasyKidsMode was built after setting up new Android tablets for my own young children and wanting a simple, reliable way to control which apps they could access.
I couldn’t find a lightweight kids mode that focused on the essentials without unnecessary complexity, subscriptions, or locked features — so I built one and made it available to other parents too.
Works in portrait or landscape.
Key features:
With EasyKidsMode, parents can choose which apps are allowed, lock the device into a safe child-friendly environment, and prevent accidental access to system settings or other apps.
• Create a dedicated Kids Home screen showing only approved apps
• Protect access with a parent PIN
• Prevent exiting Kids Mode while active
• Optionally silence notifications during Kids Mode
• Works fully offline — no internet required
Designed with privacy in mind:
EasyKidsMode does not collect, store, or share any personal data.
All configuration and settings are stored locally on the device.
Permissions explained:
EasyKidsMode uses certain Android system permissions to keep Kids Mode active:
• Accessibility Service
Used to prevent exiting Kids Mode by blocking access to system UI elements such as the notification shade.
The service does not read screen content, capture keystrokes, or transmit data.
• Usage Access (optional)
Used to detect when a child opens an app that is not allowed and return them safely to the Kids Home screen.
This information remains on the device and is never shared.
• Do Not Disturb access (optional)
Allows notifications to be silenced during Kids Mode for fewer distractions.
All permissions are requested transparently during setup and are fully controlled by the parent.
