Khanar Bachan is a rhyme based on agriculture. Khana's words have been associated with the life of the people of rural Bengal for ages. Khana was a brilliant Bengali woman who was an expert in astronomy. It is rumored that Khanar's residence was in Deulia village (now Chandraketugarh archeological site, now known as Khanamihir's mound) in Barasat Sadar subdivision of North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. He is even said to be one of the Navaratnas of King Vikramaditya's court.
In the words written by Khana, there are instructive sentences of the Bengali way of life, agriculture, tree planting, animal husbandry and other activities.
