App Description
The App explains content of the international agreement on climate change.
It includes:
- The complete text of the Paris Agreement, taken from the official source of the Paris Agreement, an international treaty, available on the United Nations Treaty Collection website (Paris Agreement to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Dec. 12, 2015, T.I.A.S. No. 16-1104.).
- Additional explanations for articles and paragraphs, links and access to further relevant decisions by the Parties to the Agreement, based on a paperback guide published under the umbrella of the European Capacity Building Initiative (ecbi) in March 2020: “Guide to the Paris Agreement”. Authored by Christoph Schwarte, Pascale Bird, Linda Siegele, Anju Sharma and Olivia Tattarletti, experts with decades of first-hand experience in the international climate negotiations. These explanations have been peer reviewed by leading academics and legal practitioners and are regularly updated by LRI following further meetings and decisions by the Parties to the Agreement.
- Links to decisions taken at the UNFCCC climate negotiation sessions, as well as documents published by the UNFCCC on the official UNFCCC website.
- A search option for the LRI database containing over 500 legal advice papers. These legal advice papers have been prepared by legal experts at LRI’s request, however, they cannot be attributed to LRI.
- Links to external websites of non-governmental organisations including: the International Institute for Sustainable Development, the International Institute for Environment and Development and the Institut de la Francophonie pour le Développement Durable.
