Welcome to the 97th Congress of the German Society for Neurology, which will take place in Berlin from November 6th to 9th, 2024. This year the congress has the motto “Neurology and Immunology – Common Perspectives!”, which focuses on the promising connections between these two disciplines.
Our steering group, supported by the DGN Advanced Training Academy and Young Neurology, has developed a program that covers the entire range of neurology. From practical topics to scientific excellence, everything is included to offer you four exciting and inspiring days.
In this year's program, we highlight how the inclusion of immunological approaches opens up new perspectives for neurology. Traditionally, we clearly distinguish neurological diseases from one another. But a closer look often reveals overlapping pathophysiological mechanisms, such as in stroke and multiple sclerosis. Recent studies are already investigating the use of MS drugs to treat strokes to block secondary inflammatory reactions - an example of the immense potential of these interdisciplinary approaches.
Neuro-oncology is also receiving new impetus from immunological questions. Innovative therapies such as CAR T-cell therapies or checkpoint inhibitors use the immune system to fight tumors. These developments show that we should work more closely together in neurology and make the boundaries between the individual clinical pictures more permeable.
The DGN Congress offers the ideal platform to discuss these exciting and future-oriented topics. We look forward to welcoming you in Berlin – or digitally – in November!
