The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), launched on January 1, 2017, by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, is a maternity benefit scheme to support pregnant and lactating mothers. It provides financial aid to promote health seeking behaviour amongst the Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers and also to provide partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentive so that the woman can take adequate rest before and after delivery. The PMMVY Soft Mobile App, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), enhances access to these benefits, offering a digital platform for beneficiaries, Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Supervisors, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs).

Scheme Benefits PMMVY provides:
- ₹5,000 for the first living child (two installments).
- ₹6,000 for the second child (if a girl, one installment) to promote positive behavioral change towards girl child.

Eligibility:
All pregnant women and lactating mothers, between the age group of 18 years and 7 month – 55 years, belonging to socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society are the targeted beneficiaries of PMMVY. The criteria for determining socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society is following:
• Women belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
• Women who are partially (40%) or fully disabled (Divyang Jan)
• Women holder of BPL ration Card
• Women Beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY) under Ayushman Bharat.
• Women holding E-shram card.
• Women farmers who are beneficiaries under Kishan Samman Nidhi
• Women holding MGNREGA Job Card
• Women whose net family income is less than Rs. 8 Lakh per annum
• Pregnant and Lactating AWWs/ AWHs/ ASHAs
• Women holding ration card under the National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA)
• Any other category as may be prescribed by the Central Government
