To guess a word, you get more points and extra time. You'll get even more points if you guess all the words! If you've already guessed several words and you can not guess again, you can press the button "Surrender" and the board with the hidden words is displayed. The words you have not guessed will be marked in red. If you do not know the word, you can press on it and see its definition.
