A Quebec educational app for learning homophones in a fun and magical way!
Ho! Homophones is an educational app designed in Quebec by a special education teacher who has been passionate about playful learning for 25 years. This app requires no resubscription or additional fees.
The goal?
To help children aged 8 to 14 master the most common homophones through wacky sentences with tailored challenges, fun quests, and a crazy world filled with potions, secret ingredients, and crazy transformations!

Who is this app for?
Ho! Homophones is aimed at students in regular learning or those with special needs, including children with a written language disorder (dyslexia/dysorthographia). The app is ideal for:
children who often confuse a / à, son / sont, ces / ses, tous/tout/toute/toutes/toux, etc.
Students who need repetition, motivation, and concrete feedback.

How the app works:
1) Interactive homophone exercises
The player must choose the correct spelling from several suggestions based on the context of a sentence. There is no time limit. Each correct answer earns them a magic ingredient!
2) Creating wacky elixirs
Once all the ingredients are collected, the student concocts a potion... which our mad scientist immediately drinks in his craziest laboratory. The result? A hilarious transformation:
Mad scientist transformed into an intelligent rat
Mad scientist turned wise old man
Mad scientist frozen in a giant ice cube
And many more!
3) Visual progress indicators
Ingredient circles: Indicate the missing elements to concoct the potion. Quest Path: Each correct answer allows you to advance along a path leading to the ultimate transformation of the bizarre scientist!

A customizable application
Each student can have their own profile. Adults can prioritize which homophones to work on. It is possible to create customized paths for a specific student. For example, focus only on confusions between ce / se, ou ou / où. Learners see their level of success for each completed quest. They can repeat the same quest as many times as they like; their latest result will always be displayed.

Why is this application effective?
Developed by a special education teacher, Ho! Homophone follows the steps of learning grammatical spelling. Each challenge is designed to offer an appropriate level of difficulty, clear feedback, and immediate positive reinforcement. Only one sentence is presented at a time to avoid perceptual clutter or a feeling of cognitive overload.

The playful aspect of the mad scientist's transformations acts as a powerful motivational and learning tool. Children are eager to discover what strange form the scientist will take in the next potion!
