Pájara is a municipality belonging to the province of Las Palmas. Located in part of the center of the island of Fuerteventura, it also covers the entire south of the island (Jandía peninsula). It is the largest municipality on the island with an area of 383.52 km². Its altitude is 196 meters above sea level, with a coastline of 150 kilometers. The highest point in Fuerteventura is Pico de la Zarza (807 meters high) located in Jandía. This peninsula is a protected park space. Pájara's economy is focused on tourism, offering more than 33,000 hotel and non-hotel beds. The municipality has the largest area of beaches in the Canary Islands. The beaches of Sotavento, Cofete and Morro Jable stand out.
