App Description

Size DWV pipes with IPC 2024 DFU tables. Drainage, waste, vent.

Drainage Pipe Sizing helps you calculate drain, waste, and vent (DWV) piping systems per IPC 2024 and UPC standards for professionals sizing residential and commercial systems. Instantly determine correct pipe diameter for horizontal branches, building drains, and vertical stacks with DFU-based calculations. Works for residential and commercial drainage systems, completely offline on the job site. Reduce sizing errors, accelerate installations, and ensure full code compliance.

FEATURES
• 4 Drainage System Modes: Horizontal branches, building drains/sewers, and stacks (3 or fewer / more than 3 branch intervals)
• DFU-Based Sizing: Input total Drainage Fixture Units and pipe type to calculate required diameter
• 12 Pipe Diameters: 1-1/4 inch through 15 inches per the printed tables
• 4 Slope Options for building drains: 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 inch per foot — printed dashes enforce IPC 704.1 minimum slopes; branches and stacks are slope-independent per the printed table
• Printed IPC Tables 710.1(1) and 710.1(2): DFU capacities exactly as published
• Material-Agnostic: DFU tables apply to all approved DWV materials (PVC, cast iron, copper, galvanized)
• Capacity Verification: Check if selected pipe size can handle calculated DFU load

HOW IT WORKS
1. Select pipe type (horizontal branch, building drain, or vertical stack)
2. Enter total drainage fixture units (DFU) from fixture unit calculator
3. Choose pipe slope (1/8, 1/4, or 1/2 inch per foot)
4. See recommended pipe diameters with IPC 2024 DFU capacity
5. Export sizing chart to PDF for code inspection and permit documentation

PERFECT FOR
• Plumbers and drainage contractors installing new systems
• Journeyman plumbers and apprentices studying DWV design
• Plumbing inspectors verifying system compliance
• Mechanical estimators calculating material requirements
• Building code officials conducting plan reviews
• Plumbing contractors and master plumbers

OPTIONAL PRO UPGRADE — $2.99 ONE-TIME IN-APP PURCHASE
The following features require a separate one-time in-app purchase. They are not required to use the calculator:
• Unlimited saved calculation history
• PDF export of results
• Dark theme
• Ad-free experience

STANDARDS & COMPLIANCE
Capacities follow the printed IPC tables (unchanged across 2018/2021/2024): Table 710.1(1) for building drains and sewers by slope, Table 710.1(2) for horizontal fixture branches and stacks, and Section 704.1 minimum slopes. Always confirm with your local code official.

PERFECT FOR
• Professional plumbers and drainage contractors
• Journeyman plumbers and apprentices
• Plumbing inspectors and code officials
• Building contractors and estimators
• Mechanical engineering firms
• Plumbing educators and students

OFFLINE & PRIVACY
• Works 100% offline - no internet needed on job sites
• No account required - immediate access without signup
• No data collection - your drainage designs stay private
• All calculations stored locally on your device
