App Description

Scan QR codes safely — instant threat detection before you tap

QR codes are everywhere — on restaurant menus, shop windows, posters,
and packaging. But a QR code can hide anything, and criminals
increasingly use them to direct victims to phishing sites, malware
downloads, and scams.

QR Guard analyses every QR code before you open it, giving you a
clear Red, Amber, or Green safety verdict in seconds.

WHAT QR GUARD CHECKS

Every scan runs 13 instant offline checks including:
- Brand impersonation and typosquatting — catches fakes like
"paypa1.com" designed to look like real sites
- Dangerous file types — flags links that download .exe, .apk,
.bat and other harmful files
- Phishing keywords — detects URLs crafted to create panic
or urgency
- Suspicious domains — risky extensions, IP address URLs,
excessive subdomains, and more

With network checks enabled, QR Guard also runs:
- DNS resolution — confirms the domain actually exists
- Domain age lookup — newly registered domains are a major
red flag for phishing attacks
- Redirect following — reveals the true destination of
shortened or forwarded links
- Google Safe Browsing — checks against Google's database
of billions of known malicious sites
- Content-Type verification — detects dangerous files before
they download

TRANSPARENT BY DESIGN

Every check is shown in plain English — not just a verdict, but
a clear explanation of exactly what was found and why it matters.
Tap any finding to understand the risk in detail.

PRIVACY FIRST

Network checks can be disabled at any time for fully offline
operation. Your scan history is stored only on your device and
never leaves it.

SCAN HISTORY

Every scan is saved so you can review past results, re-run checks
on previously scanned URLs, and track how the safety of a link
changes over time.

QR Guard is free, contains no ads, and requires no account.
