Remedies Shoreline ML App

Co-creating strong uptake of REMEDIES for the future of our oceans

The Shoreline ML app (for beach litter monitoring, developed by Infordata (INFOR) and Venice Lagoon Plastic Free (VLPF) under the HEUROPE project REMEDIES, functions as a tool to assist users in the filling of beach litter monitoring data. It brings to the users the ability to fetch all data collected during ML monitoring missions and compound them with time, and coordinates of the monitoring activity, distribution of the type of material, composition of the litter source and other results, which can be further compared with standardized data collected across Europe. The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) was used to retrieve relevant historical ML data in order to plan and enrich our work on the pan European ML database and have the benefit to get standardised, homogenous and comparable data from elsewhere, as well as data gaps EMODnet provided valuable services such as the beach litter format validator, which assisted in generating correct datasets that then were submitted to the EMODnet ingestion portal.
