Every opponent is a proprietary neural network — 19 nets in all, one per Elo bracket, each trained on millions of real human games. A 1200 rival plays like a 1200. A 2200 rival plays like a 2200.

Bot pacing comes from an XGBoost model trained on 5.6 million Lichess moves. Eleven features per position — eval, ply, time pressure, threats, recaptures. Your opponent doesn't think in metronome ticks. They think the way someone at that level thinks.

Drills are statistical, not random. We extract the exact moments you lost win probability in your own games, then build a replay loop with an Elo-scaled difficulty window. The position you fumbled at 1850 plays back against a 1850 opponent.
