Rock Nerd – Hunt, Identify, Connect, Collect
Rock Nerd helps rockhounds and mineral collectors find new rock hunting spots, identify specimens, and connect with fellow rock collectors who share this fun hobby.
Discover spots
Browse a map of pre curated and user added rock and mineral locations. See public spots shared by the community and even add your own. Free members explore within a radius; premium members get full map access so you can plan trips anywhere in the world.
Identify what you find
Use the in-app ID wizard to narrow down rocks and minerals. Using a simple questionnaire Rock Nerd helps you with the identification of rocks and minerals. No AI to mess things up, just a simple to follow questionnaire. Learn as you go and build your collection with better labels and notes.
Community
Connect and collect with other rock collectors through messaging and the Rock Buddy finder. Share spots, swap tips, and plan trips with people nearby and even across the world.
Spots you can trust
Spots can be reviewed, checked in, and voted on. Add photos and details so others know what to expect. Members can request spot corrections and see new spots before they’re approved for all users to see.
Track your progress
Earn badges, gain XP, and level up as you explore, add spots, and contribute to the community. Show off your progress and share achievements.

Whether you’re hunting agates, gems, fossils, crystals, or even if your big into geology, Rock Nerd is built to help you find locations, identify finds, and connect with the rockhound community.
