Shikshapatri is written by Shree Sahajanand Swami. It is a sort of code of conduct, a set of rules of moral behavior, for social decorum, religious performance and worship of God. It aims at making man’s life smooth, happy and achieves final liberation after his death.

On Chaitra Sud-Nom (dated 3-4-1781) of Samvat 1837, the sun rose in the form of Sahajananda at Chhapaiya village near Ayoghya on the holy land of India. He was given the name Ghanshyam in his childhood. At the age of 11, he decided to uproot adharma and establish righteousness on this earth and started wandering in the pilgrimages of India.

They chose the thorny path of self-suffering for the welfare of the people. At the age of just 11, he was known as Nilakanthavarni when he walked 13000 km without wearing shoes and without any company.

In this pilgrimage of about 2562 days, he visited 70 countries and more than 170 villages and many cities of India. Then Piplana Mukam took the initiation of Kartak Sud Agiyaras (dated 28-10-1800) in 1857 from Sri Ramananda Swami and then his name was Sahajananda Swami and then Sri Swaminarayan Bhagwan became famous in the world.

He did a great job of reforming religion and reforming society in less than three decades. He created a new light among the people by sitting in the village of Gujarat and its daily life. Those who did not put down the weapon, took the rule not to touch the weapon. Thieves, robbers gave up stealing, carnivores gave up eating meat, addicts gave up addictions.

Those who don't care about cutting human beings as if they are cutting dirt have become worshipers of non-violence. Many renounced the luxuries of the world and became renunciates. Those who were considered a disgrace to the society became the defenders of the society. The life of Sri Swaminarayan Bhagwan, his works, thoughts, his personality are so incomparable, infinitely profound and serious that our intelligence falls short in understanding them.
