App Description
Salary Calculator
Salary+ is a professional-grade, mobile-only utility designed for small-to-medium enterprise (SME) workers and freelancers who require a robust, local-storage solution for tracking work hours and calculating payouts. Unlike cloud-dependent apps, Salary+ operates with an "offline-first" architecture, ensuring that all sensitive attendance logs, hourly rates, and financial breakdowns remain strictly on the user's device via IndexedDB.
The app simplifies complex payroll tracking by allowing users to log Basic, 1.5x OT, and 2.0x OT hours daily, while providing a fully customizable "Salary Advice" view for archiving or generating screenshots for employer verification.
Clarification Statement: Manual Data Control
In this version of the application, we have intentionally made all calculation fields—including total hours and sub-total amounts—fully editable.
1. Why we keep the "Total" fields open to edit:
Company Policy Alignment: Different companies use different rounding rules (e.g., rounding 7.75 hours to 8 or 7.5). By keeping totals editable, the user can manually align the app's data with their official company timesheet.
Correction of Historical Data: Users can quickly override a monthly total if a specific day's entry was missed or incorrectly logged, without needing to find and edit every individual daily entry.
One-Off Adjustments: It allows for the immediate inclusion of special payments, such as back-pay or retroactive adjustments, directly into the "Total" field for that month's report.
2. Why we do not apply "Locked" salary logic:
User Empowerment: As a developer targeting the SME sector, the goal is to provide a tool where the user has "all rights to overwrite the data as per their company norms".
Variable Formulas: Fixed logic often fails to account for regional variations in how "Allowances" or "Adjustments" are calculated (e.g., whether an allowance is taxable or subject to specific deductions).
Error Prevention through Flexibility: If the app’s internal math slightly differs from an employer’s proprietary payroll software, a "locked" logic would make the app useless for official verification. Providing an open-edit system ensures the app remains a reliable "Source of Truth" that matches the user's actual paycheck.
