SaptKrishi is a young Agri-Tech start-up incubated at IIT Kanpur, with youth in decisive roles who are determined to work towards agricultural innovation and the transformation of rural South-East Asia. The extremely short shelf-life of horticultural and floricultural produce results in a big chunk of the produce not making it to the market and ends up getting wasted. 70% of fruit and vegetable output is wasted, accounting for 40% of the total cost. As a social enterprise, the focus sector for its first phase is the development of low-cost storage and transportation solution for farmers and traders engaged with horticulture and floriculture.
Preservator/Sabjikothi is a wheel mountable storage for transportation of fresh fruits and vegetables. It is a cost-effective, microclimate based, portable storage that extend the shelf-life and preserve the freshness of fruits and vegetables anywhere between 5 to 30 days. The entire setup can be unloaded from wheels, and can doubly acts as on-field & on-market storage. It requires 20 watts of power and 1 litre of water and has battery backup of a day and an option of solar charging. The USP of the technology, therefore, lies in the fact that the entire setup can be assembled on any suitable means of transportation (E-rickshaw, mini-trucks, thelas etc.) and it can transport contamination-free fruits and vegetables from field to market without any water loss and decay.
Sabjiwala delivers farm-fresh vegetables to the customer directly from the farm. One can order vegetables, fruits, dry fruits, and other farm products listed on the Sabjiwala section of the app.
