Altiko – Altitude & Speed

Altitude, speed and heading from your phone's sensors. Nothing is sent.

Altiko shows how high you are, how fast you are moving and which way you are facing. Nothing else.

The altitude comes from your phone's pressure sensor where it has one, which is steadier and more precise than satellites alone, and from GPS where it does not. The compass reads the magnetometer, so it keeps pointing north while you stand still — unlike a heading derived from movement. Speed sits below a noise floor, so it rests at zero instead of twitching.

Two scales frame the figures: altitude up the left edge, speed down the right. You catch the direction and the magnitude before you read the number.

Along the foot, sunrise and sunset for where you are, with moonrise, moonset and the moon drawn at its real phase.

WHAT ALTIKO DOES NOT DO

It sends nothing. There is no server, no account, no analytics, no crash reporting, no ad network and no advertising identifier. Location, air pressure and heading are read, shown and discarded. Close the app and every reading is gone.

That is why the Google Play data safety section says no data is collected and no data is shared.

NOT A SAFETY DEVICE

Altiko is an instrument for everyday use and recreation. Satellite altitude is less accurate vertically than horizontally, pressure sensors respond to weather, and compasses are disturbed by metal. Do not use it for aviation, diving, mountain rescue or survey work.
