App Description
Sodium tracker & salt counter. Log meals, set your target, see your week.
Halite is a sodium tracker and salt counter for people who just want to know the number. Log what you eat, watch one ring fill, and see your week ā no account, no ads, nothing uploaded.
It is a food diary with one job. Search a built-in database of everyday foods, tap the serving you had, and your daily sodium intake adds up in front of you. When the label is easier, type the milligrams straight in. That is the whole loop, and it takes seconds.
YOUR TARGET, IN EITHER DIRECTION
Most sodium tracker apps assume you are cutting down. Halite does not assume anything. Set a daily target to stay UNDER, or set one to reach AT LEAST ā both are first class, and the ring reads the same way for both. Plenty of people are told to keep sodium up, not down, and they get a real app here instead of a workaround.
You can also skip the target entirely. With no goal set, the ring simply shows your total for the day, which is a complete way to use it.
HOW IT WORKS
⢠Search the food database, or quick-add milligrams from any nutrition label
⢠Adjust the serving ā half, one, or double
⢠The today ring moves as you log
⢠Tag items by meal if you want to see where the salt actually comes from
⢠Check the week strip to see today in context
A FOOD DIARY THAT SHOWS ITS SOURCES
Every bundled food carries the id of the USDA record it came from, and the serving USDA published for it. Nothing is estimated or invented. If a number ever looks wrong to you, the one on the label in your hand is the one to trust ā and you can save that as your own food in a couple of taps.
OFFICIAL SOURCES
⢠USDA FoodData Central ā SR Legacy and FNDDS Survey Foods, public domain: https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/
And no others. That closed list is stated in the app too.
WHO USES IT
People on a low sodium diet. People tracking sodium intake because a clinician asked them to ā kidney health, blood pressure, POTS, heart failure. Athletes and people with POTS who need to keep salt UP. Anyone who reads nutrition labels and would like the day's total in one place. Halite is the diary they keep; it is not part of their care.
EVERYTHING THE DIARY HOLDS
⢠Your whole history, day by day, with a calendar you can scroll back through
⢠Weekly averages, and the trend running underneath them
⢠A CSV export of every item, every day, every milligram ā your data
⢠Your own foods, saved once and reused forever, for whatever the database lacks
⢠The today ring against your target, with the week strip beside it
Halite works as a food diary from the moment you open it, and never nags you.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Your diary never leaves your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, no cloud sync, and no advertising. The app works completely offline ā on a plane, in a basement, anywhere. Purchases are handled by Google Play; nothing else about you is collected.
SINGLE PURPOSE, ON PURPOSE
Halite counts salt and gets out of the way. It is not an everything-tracker and is not trying to become one ā one number, entered fast, is the point. That is why the food search is the first thing you see and why a sodium intake entry takes two taps.
WHY A DEDICATED SALT COUNTER
General nutrition apps will show you sodium somewhere, usually four screens deep behind calories and macros you did not ask about. If sodium is the number you actually care about, a dedicated sodium tracker is faster every single day ā and a food diary you can finish in ten seconds is a food diary you will still be keeping next month.
That speed is the whole design. No sign-up wall, no onboarding survey, no daily nag. Open it, log it, close it. If you are keeping to a low sodium diet, the only thing that matters is whether you actually log it ā so logging is the part we made fast.
Halite is a food and sodium diary ā it does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice.
Sodium targets are personal ā use the one your clinician gave you.
Your data stays on your device ā no account, no cloud.
