Pre-K/K game-based assessment

The Finch™ app by Teaching Strategies adds game-based assessment to our industry-leading GOLD® observational assessment system to save teachers time and provide a fuller picture of each child’s developmental progress. Finch provides two groundbreaking tools in one: the Finch Literacy Screener and Finch Formative Games.

The Finch Literacy Screener provides early signal for children who may be at risk for reading difficulties, including dyslexia.

- For children in pre-K and kindergarten
- Is fun and engaging for children
- Leverages advanced, automatic speech recognition
- Captures and scores literacy development data
- Allows for early intervention
- Fuels deep, data-driven insights and recommendations for teachers and families
- Identifies each child’s unique needs
- Also feeds documentation directly into GOLD if applicable

Finch Formative Games are adaptive and dynamic to directly capture developmental progress.

- For children in preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten
- Takes 5 minutes or less per child per week
- Is a reliable, validated tool supported by peer-reviewed research
- Automatically feeds documentation and preliminary levels into GOLD

The Finch app is available to teachers using Teaching Strategies Finch or Finch Literacy Screener which can be accessed through your center, school, state, and/or private childcare.
