UNDerwatER Soundscape bEyond Ais

The UNDERSEA project aims to enhance sustainable growth in the Adriatic Sea region by improving the cross-border monitoring, evaluation, and mitigation of human-generated underwater noise pollution. Building on the achievements of the SOUNDSCAPE project, UNDERSEA expands data collection and integrates innovative modeling techniques to further improve understanding and management of underwater noise pollution in the Adriatic Sea.
It will establish a monitoring network covering the entire Adriatic Sea and introduce innovative methods for noise monitoring, including the evaluation of noise from tourism and local fishery activities. By standardizing data collection and sharing procedures, UNDERSEA seeks to increase knowledge and promote sustainable mitigation efforts across the Adriatic basin. The project's outcomes will contribute to the development of new tools for managing the marine environment and shared natural resources, fostering cross-border collaboration and enhancing area-based conservation measures.
