The app's core benefit: Valid allows users to precisely record places they feel anxious about or places they consider particularly safe. After a one-time, anonymous registration, recording a location or situation requires only a few clicks.

With this app, we are presenting a ready-to-use draft of a technical application, which we will continue to revise, refine, and complete in the coming months. Currently, in addition to the previously described "recording function," the app offers another feature, which we explain in more detail under "App Details."

App Details

The "Valid" app currently offers two functions:

Recording places you feel anxious about (recording function)

Recording a place you feel anxious about or a place you consider particularly safe is incredibly easy. After registering anonymously, you can submit a location and time report with just a few clicks, provided you are within the designated reporting area. After pressing the "Safe/Unsafe" button, a selection menu/text field will appear, allowing you to specify the factors that trigger your anxiety. While we would appreciate additional information for your report to aid in the analysis, the final decision remains yours. Simply pressing the "Safe/Unsafe" button is sufficient to submit a usable report.

Application Note

This function is only available for a specific period and within a limited area. The location and time are variable and will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the project participants. Your report will only be recorded if you are within this area. If you are outside the designated area, you will be notified.

Prevention Information (Notification Function)

In addition to recording areas of anxiety, it is possible to place location-specific information on the app, which will be displayed to the user upon entering. Such recommendations can be derived from the situational analysis or formulated by public authorities.

Application Note

As described above, we formulate the prevention recommendations based on the results of the situational analyses or at the request of public authorities. Therefore, the first recommendations are not expected until after the completion of the first project at the earliest. Recommendations from public authorities can be submitted at any time.

Functions in Planning

In addition to these basic functions, we are currently working on developing further functions.

Depending on the response to the prototype, we plan to give people with disabilities the opportunity to report locations that are not accessible.
