“The Tale of Tsar Saltan” is a free adaptation of a folk tale, which was recorded by Pushkin in two different versions. The author did not follow exactly any of them, freely changed and supplemented the plot, while preserving the folk character of the content. The long title of the fairy tale imitates the popular titles of popular stories in the 18th century. In the work itself, characters borrowed from folk tales were used. Such as, for example, the magical image of Princess Swans having a response in the image of Vasilisa the Wise.

The old man and his wife live by the sea. The old man gets food for fishing, and once in his net comes an unusual goldfish that can speak the human language. The fish prays to let her go to sea, and the old man lets her go without asking for a reward. Returning home, he talks about what happened to his wife. She scolds him and makes him return to the sea, call for a fish and demand a reward, at least a new trough. The old man calls for a fish by the sea, she appears and promises to fulfill his desire, saying: "Do not be sad, go to yourself with God."

“The Tale of the Priest and of his Worker Balda” - a fairy tale by A. S. Pushkin. During the life of the poet was not published. It was written in Boldin on September 13, 1830. The basis was a Russian folk tale recorded by Pushkin in Mikhailovsky.
