The Big Four barbell exercises (squat, bench press, overhead press, and deadlift) offer an overall workout because they each utilize multiple muscle groups. Instead of switching from machine to machine to machine, you'll be able to get a total body workout by doing straightforward basic lifts.

Whether you are training to get stronger, build muscle, or lose fat, a full-body routine with three barbell workouts per week is one of the best strength training programs you can choose as a beginner. The classic barbell! Barbell workouts will remain the standard for building strength and muscle, and yes even great for endurance work.
