App Description

Doing more does not mean doing better

The project "DO MORE DOES NOT MEAN TO DO BETTER - CHOOSING WISELY ITALY", promoted by Slow Medicine, aims to promote the dialogue between doctors and other health professionals with patients and citizens on diagnostic tests, treatments and procedures risk of inappropriateness in Italy, to arrive at informed and shared choices.

The project is based on the assumption of responsibility of doctors and other health professionals in care choices and on the participation of patients and citizens, and is implemented through:

  - the recommendations of Italian Scientific Societies and Professional Associations on diagnostic tests, treatments and procedures which, according to available scientific knowledge, do not bring significant benefits to the majority of the patients to whom they are prescribed, but can, on the contrary, expose them to risks.

  - Improving the dialogue and the relationship between doctors and other professionals with patients and citizens, so that informed and shared choices can be made in the context of a relationship of trust.

  - Widespread information and training of doctors and other health professionals.

  - The development of information material for citizens and patients.

  - A wide sharing with citizens, patients and their representatives.
