※This app provides the "long-period earthquake motion scale" (including equivalent values).
Long-period earthquake motion refers to large shaking with a long period, and even if a large earthquake occurs far away, high-rise buildings in urban areas may shake large and long due to long-period earthquake motion. This can lead to damage such as furniture falling, ceiling materials falling, and elevators stopping.
The shaking of high-rise buildings due to long-period earthquake motion cannot be adequately expressed by the "seismic intensity" that you often hear about, so the Japan Meteorological Agency has established and issued a long-period earthquake motion scale (4 levels from 1 to 4).

◆App Overview
This app is designed to estimate the shaking and damage caused by long-period seismic motion in high-rise buildings of 15 stories or more after an earthquake occurs, and to support residents and managers in taking appropriate initial responses.
After an earthquake occurs, the app quickly estimates the shaking of the set floor and the entire building based on the epicenter information (magnitude and depth of the earthquake) provided by the Japan Meteorological Agency. In particular, in the case of a large earthquake more than tens of kilometers away, it is possible to receive estimated information tens of seconds before the high-rise building shakes strongly, allowing appropriate initial responses to be made. However, please understand that the information provided is only an estimate, and the calculation results may differ from the actual situation or may be provided with a delay.
The important thing in preparing for a major earthquake is to understand the expected large shaking and damage of the building, take proper measures in advance (earthquake-proofing buildings and rooms, stockpiling, disaster prevention training, etc.), and respond calmly after the earthquake.

In a study on the utilization of long-period earthquake motion observation and prediction information by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience, Kogakuin University, and RC Solutions, Inc., the utilization of long-period earthquake motion prediction information is being considered. This app is an experimental app that aims to utilize the results of this study and further implement it in society.

The app will be released and the accuracy will be further improved by reflecting the knowledge and feedback gained from the general public's use.

◆Main functions

・Function 1: Notification function

If a seismic intensity of 3 or higher or a long-period earthquake motion scale of 1 or higher is predicted at the set location based on the announcement by the Japan Meteorological Agency, you will be notified by push notification.

・Function 2: Display function of the latest information

Displays the latest earthquake information and the estimated shaking value in the set building.

・Function 3: Display function of maximum information for 3 days

Displays the maximum earthquake information for the last 3 days and the estimated shaking value in the set building. The judgment of "maximum" is determined by the long-period earthquake motion scale (equivalent value) at the set floor. If there are multiple earthquakes of the same scale (equivalent value), the newer earthquake will be displayed.
