App Description

A single-player offline game featuring evolving characters, 35 mahjong stages, 12 story episodes, 140 Shanghai mahjong tiles, and 12 study questions. Enjoy conversations as well.

"Angel's Mahjong, Devil's Shanghai" is a single-player game that lets you enjoy four-player mahjong and Shanghai puzzles where you remove pairs of identical tiles.

You can select "Angel's Mahjong" or "Devil's Shanghai" from the menu after starting the game.

[Devil's Shanghai: 140-tile puzzle]

The goal is to remove all identical tiles that have no tiles above them and are empty on either the left or right side. In addition to the 140 regular stages, it includes a practice stage to learn the controls and 12 "Shanghai Puzzle - Board Study" problems to help you think about the order in which to remove tiles.

Gori, Kuro, Zaku, Mog, Hunter Orion, Black Spear Duke Valgram, and Fallen Angel Lucifer from "Angel's Lost Items" appear in sequence every four stages. The characters evolve every 28 stages, completing a cycle of 7 characters. Stages 1-28 are normal, stages 29-56 are Evolution 1, stages 57-84 are Evolution 2, stages 85-112 are Evolution 3, and stages 113-140 are their ultimate form, witnessing the challenge.

Conversations occur before the start of each 4-stage section and after completion, allowing you to enjoy a total of 35 sections and 70 conversations. The evolved images of the assigned characters are displayed in the stage list and on the board. In the "Shanghai Puzzle - Board Study" research notebook, the demon and a short comment switch approximately every 10 seconds.

Hints, undo, and redo are available, and items such as shuffle, pair removal, and clairvoyance are also provided. Shanghai items start with 3 clairvoyance and shuffle items, and 2 pair removal items, with one item acquired upon first completion of each stage. These are managed separately from Mahjong assistance tickets.

[Angel's Mahjong: A Story-Based 4-Player Reach Mahjong Game]
This is a Reach Mahjong game against three CPU opponents, following the story of Pico, Mimi, Lulu, and Nana.

The slightly clumsy angels gather at an old mahjong table in the garden.
There's the strong-willed Pico, the caring Mimi, the impatient delivery girl Lulu, and the flowerpot-loving Nana.
This is a story-based 4-player Reach Mahjong game where you play mahjong together and gradually hear the stories of the four characters.

[Angel's Evolutionary Match: 35 Stages]
Separate from the story, we've prepared an evolutionary match with 35 stages where you aim to win and reach first place.
The main character's opponent changes with each stage, in the order of Pico → Mimi → Lulu → Nana → Guardian Aegis → Archangel Gabriella → Fallen Angel Lucifer. Each of the seven characters evolves after a full cycle. Characters 1-7 are in their normal form, 8-14 are Evolution 1, 15-21 are Evolution 2, 22-28 are Evolution 3, and 29-35 are in their ultimate form.

Each stage is a Mahjong match between the protagonist and three CPU opponents. The dialogue and in-game illustrations change according to the opponent's evolution. Enjoy the conversations before the match and after clearing in first place, and challenge the final Lucifer, the ultimate form.

Finishing an East Wind Mahjong match in first place and reading the epilogue unlocks the next stage. If you finish second or lower, you can retry the same stage. Even in evolved matches, there are no item-based tile distribution or draw assistance.

【A 12-episode story unfolding between matches】
The sound heard in the bell tower, the unrecorded rescue, the envelope that hasn't been delivered yet, the empty flowerpot.

Casual conversations reveal the worries of the four characters. Clues and relationships change slightly throughout the twelve chapters, and some questions remain unanswered.

Each chapter progresses from a conversation to an actual East Wind game, concluding with a conversation and epilogue based on the outcome. You play with the protagonist and three CPU opponents using standard Mahjong rules.

[Interactions Based on the Current Match]
Short conversations are included based on actual events in the match, such as discarding a winning tile or winning a hand, as set for each chapter. Character enlargement animations are displayed when a player declares "reach."

The conversation after the match changes depending on the protagonist's and your final ranking in that chapter. Finishing the East Wind game in each stage with a first-place ranking and reading the epilogue unlocks the next stage. Even if you finish second or lower, you can still read the epilogue for that chapter, but you'll need to try again to advance to the next stage.

[Recording What You've Read in Character Notes]
The character and event notes will show what you've learned and what you still don't understand from the chapters you've completed. Content from chapters you haven't read yet will not be displayed.

You can reread conversations from completed chapters without playing a match. You can also review the endings for different rankings, allowing you to enjoy the four characters' words at your own pace.

[For Free Play]
In Free Play mode, you can choose 3 opponents from 8 angels and demons and play East Wind or Half-Game matches. There are three difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, and Hard.

You can check the movement of points, including Tsumo, Chi, Pon, Kan, Riichi, and Ron, as well as the roles of hands, points, and dora.

[Earn Help Tickets by Clearing Stages]
Each time you clear a stage in Story or Evolution Match mode in first place and finish reading the epilogue, you will receive one of either a "Starting Hand Help Ticket" or a "Riichi Ippatsu Help Ticket."

Tickets can only be used in Free Play mode. The selected ticket will be consumed at the start of the match and will not be included in your regular win/loss record. It does not guarantee a win or an Ippatsu Tsumo. It cannot be used in Story mode matches.

[For Beginners to Mahjong]
We have prepared six interactive lessons, a list of hands, and aids to check the number of tiles needed to complete a hand, waiting tiles, and the reasons for furiten. The screen orientation can be selected from "Portrait," "Landscape," or "Automatic." In portrait mode, the hand of tiles switches between one column and two rows depending on the screen width. On wider screens, the tiles are displayed in a large single column, with the drawn tile slightly separated. You can also see your opponent's most recent discards clearly. In portrait mode, the four discard areas display a faint full-body illustration of each character.

[Continue playing even if you close the app]
The position of the mahjong game and conversation, as well as the Shanghai board, progress, and conversations in each section, are saved on your device. You can resume playing from where you left off, even in the middle of the story.

It can be played offline, and there are no ads, in-app purchases, or account registration. There are no online player-versus-player matches or features for betting money or prizes.

The mahjong rules used are 136 tiles, no red tiles, starting at 25,000 points, with "kuitan" and "atozuke" allowed, and multiple ron results in head-to-head bonus. Please check the in-app rules for details.
