Scale Generator

Welcome to the only musical scales app you are ever going to need!

This app will generate any musical scale or arpeggio - if it has a key, there will be a scale for it in this app! It uses the "Circle of Fifths" to provide a simple scroll wheel type interface for selecting the key (think Apple iPod - they got that idea from us you know!). Look at what you get:

✅ Allow mixed clefs (e.g. for long scales bass -> tenor -> treble)

✅ Long click a key to immediately show the scale using current settings
✅ Double click a key to select equivalent (e.g. C# -> Db)

The key selector wheel is colour coded so the corresponding minor key with the same root is the same colour. (e.g. C major and C minor). When you select a key both the selected key and the correspond major/minor are both highlighted.

You can use this app to generate the scales you want to practice for pretty much any instrument, including the piano, and any scale format. You can listen to the scale, see the notes highlighted as they are played and play along at your chosen speed. As it uses the Circle of Fifths, it is also supports understanding some of the theory behind the scales i.e. the relationship between scales and key signatures.

Scales are a critical part of learning any instrument. They are the building blocks for navigating the instrument and reading music. They are a vital element of music, forming the basis of harmony and melody. This app supports you scale practice journey all the way from grade 1 to grade 8 and beyond.
