SWIM SAFETY AT A GLANCE
The home screen shows your beach's swim status as a simple traffic light:
Green — Safe to swim
Orange — Swim with caution
Red — Avoid swimming
Grades come directly from LAWA (Land, Air, Water Aotearoa), NZ's official water quality monitoring programme. Where a beach has multiple monitoring sites, ShoreSure uses the worst-case grade so you always get the most cautious advice.
A rainfall advisory reminds you to avoid swimming after heavy rain, when run-off can affect water quality.
