App Description

Supporting early-grade teachers to educate young children in mother-tongue

KnowHow Early Learning allows preschool and early-grade teachers in Southern Africa to provide quality early education, allowing children a good start into formal education. You can select country-specific learning material that includes mother-tongue glossary terms and African picture-storybook examples. The app includes videos, audio, images, and learning materials particularly on how to support the development of children one year before they are transitioning to grade 1. Quizzes and self-assessments support individual learning and self-reflection.

KnowHow Early Learning facilitates teacher professional development through group-learning amongst peers at preprimary level, grade one and beyond. Be inspired by new teaching methodologies and apply them in your own teaching context, encouraging age-appropriate learning throughout primary school. Typically, it takes 20 weeks for a group to work through all modules and units, but continuing to meet regularly with fellow teachers to work collaboratively and share knowledge and skills is an important effect.

The app integrates seamlessly with the ELK Launcher, providing a unified experience with other Early Learning Kiosk (ELK) apps and tools (ELK File Manager, ELK Launcher, ChildSteps and Natural Playgrounds Toolkit).
