Would you like to know what bird you saw? You can find out in just a few steps! The first application in Romania for determining birds was translated and adapted to the conditions in the country by the Milvus Group Association. We thank the two organizations that designed the determinant together and made the application available to us: Magyar Madártani és Természetvédelmi Egyesület (MME) - BirdLife Hungary and the Wolf Chicken Youth Association - Farkaskölykök Ifjúsági Egyesület.

The determinant provides assistance in identifying 372 species of birds in Romania. To facilitate the determination of the species, several search elements have been introduced, such as: appearance, habitat and plumage color.

This determinant is addressed to those who are passionate about birds, but who are beginners in determining the species seen. By choosing a single feature, the application will show you several possible species. If you continue filtering in terms of appearance, plumage color, or habitat type, you will be able to narrow your search results.
The description of each species, in addition to a brief description, contains: the name in Latin and English, taxonomy (family and order), as well as the specific sound.
If you do not want to determine the species and you just want to get acquainted with the birds, we recommend you to use the "Bird encyclopedia" function, which contains all the species available in the application.
The 662 images that appear in the application were made by Kókay Szabolcs, and the 417 sounds of birds were recorded on the one hand by Zsoldos Árpád, on the other hand they were downloaded from www.xeno-canto.org and are accessible to all. Both images and sounds are protected by copyright. The reproduction and distribution rights belong to MME - BirdLife Hungary and the Milvus Group, the images and sounds may be used only with the prior written permission of the above-mentioned organizations. These rights remain valid even after the automatic or manual archiving of images and sounds.
