App Description
Tibetan-Mongolian Buddhist astrology, calendar, and meditation companion.
Zurkhai is an offline-first companion for Buddhist astrology, the lunar calendar, and meditation practice in the Tibetan-Mongolian Vajrayana tradition. Built around the Phukpa school's classical calculations, it brings the wisdom of the datsan to your pocket — no account, no ads, no tracking.
What you can do:
• Today — the current lunar day, recommended practices, and astrological notes drawn from authentic Buddhist sources.
• Me — your personal birth chart calculated by four classical parameters: element (Mahabhuta), animal sign (12 Jil), karmic mark (Menge), and seat of destiny (Suudal / Parkha).
• Compatibility — measure the harmony between two birth charts across all four parameters. Clear verdict, detailed reading per the Phukpa school.
• Meditate — meditation timer with optional ambient mantras, the nine-round purification breathing, a seven-point posture guide based on Vairocana, a mantra counter with traditional 108-bead cycles, lessons, and a 20-entry glossary covering Buddhism, the schools of Tibet, the calendar, and core astrological concepts.
• Datsans on Map — directory of Tibetan-Mongolian-tradition monasteries in Russia, Mongolia, Tibet, India and Nepal, the United States, and beyond. Tap to see the founding year, the lineage, the address, and how to visit.
• Daily reminder — an optional notification each morning with the lunar day and the next major khural.
Built with respect for the tradition. All Phukpa-school calculations are verified against printed sources. Meditation instructions follow the Tibetan (Vajrayana) lineage — śamatha after the Lamrim, the seven-point posture of Vairocana, the nine-round breathing. Teacher biographies draw on open sources; datsan data comes from OpenStreetMap and the monasteries' official websites.
Privacy. Everything lives on your device. No accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising. Permissions are minimal and only used when needed — location to center the map on your position, notifications for the daily reminder, vibration for the meditation timer and mantra counter.
Not a substitute for personal consultation. For important life decisions (a wedding, a major move, the start of a big undertaking) please consult a lama-zurkhaichin in person.
