Why a Geodesic Dome?

Homes:
Domes provide a unique and airy, energy efficient living space that you would not encounter in any typical structure. Add to that the fact that domes are the least expensive way to enclose a given volume and that they are nearly natural disaster – proof. What other shelters provide your family with this same atmosphere and safety?

Greenhouse:
Unique window placement and uniform internal climates make domes excellent indoor farming structures. Build window openings at the top of your greenhouse to let out excess warmth or moisture whenever needed.

Fish Farming:
Companies are using large geodesic spheres to farm fish. These are later towed across the ocean to clients instead of using conventional freezing and boxing methods for transportation.

Sunroom:
On a cold day, you’ll be happy to find the warmth that a dome can produce via the greenhouse effect of trapping the sun’s heat.

Natural Disaster Shelter:

Planetarium:
Want to make your own planetarium or hemispherical video display? Use a projector to project an image or video onto a hemispherical security mirror. This image should be reflected onto the inside of the dome to effectively “wrap” it internally with the image (projecting the image without the mirror will stretch the image’s outer edges, distorting the image).
