Ranevskaya Faina Feldman was born on August 15 in the city of Taganrog in a fairly wealthy Jewish family. She had three brothers (Yakov, Rudolf and Lazar) and a sister, Bella. Faina studied at the Mariinsky Women's Gymnasium. For that time, as a girl from a wealthy family, she received the usual upbringing: she studied singing, music, and foreign languages.
