NANDA-I Nursing Diagnosis: Definitions and Classification 13th edition is the definitive guide to nursing diagnosis that has been reviewed and approved by NANDA International (NANDA-I). In fact, nurses independently diagnose and treat patient and family problems, which is different from medical diagnosis. The NANDA-I taxonomy was developed based on global efforts.

In this 13th Edition, the taxonomy defines 277 nursing diagnoses. As well as 56 new diagnoses and 123 revised diagnoses. Each diagnosis is the work of one or more NANDAI volunteers, and the majority are evidence-based. Each nursing diagnosis has gone through debate and approval from members of the Diagnosis Development Committee (DDC), before being submitted for approval from NANDA-I members.
