Kurdish TTS — Read Sorani Kurdish text aloud anywhere on your phone

Kurdish TTS is an accessibility tool that speaks Sorani Kurdish text out
loud with a lifelike voice. It is built for:

• Blind and low-vision users who rely on a screen reader (TalkBack)
and need a Sorani Kurdish voice, because the Text-to-Speech engines
shipped with Android do not support Sorani Kurdish.
• Users with dyslexia, reading difficulties, or low literacy who find
it easier to listen to Sorani Kurdish text than to read it.
• Elderly users and users with visual fatigue who prefer audio over
on-screen text.

This app speaks Sorani Kurdish only. Kurmanji and other Kurdish
dialects are not supported.

== How it works ==

1) Sorani Kurdish TTS engine
The app installs itself as a system Text-to-Speech engine. After the
user selects "Kurdish TTS" in
Settings → System → Languages & input → Text-to-speech output,
TalkBack and any other app that uses Android TTS can speak Sorani
Kurdish.

2) Floating reader (uses AccessibilityService)
The app provides an optional floating "Read aloud" bubble. When the
user taps a paragraph, message, article, or any text on screen, the
bubble reads that text aloud in Sorani Kurdish. This feature requires
the Android AccessibilityService API because it is the only supported
way for an assistive tool to retrieve the text of the UI element the
user is pointing at, across all apps, for users who cannot read it
themselves.

== Use of the AccessibilityService API ==

Kurdish TTS uses the AccessibilityService API solely to deliver
text-to-speech accessibility for Sorani Kurdish-speaking users with
visual or reading impairments. Specifically, the service:

• Detects which on-screen text element the user has tapped, focused,
or selected.
• Retrieves the text of that element so the app can speak it aloud in
Sorani Kurdish.

The service does NOT:

• Record audio or calls.
• Change device or app settings on the user's behalf.
• Block, hide, or modify other apps' UI.
• Collect, transmit, or sell any user data. All speech synthesis runs
on-device.
• Run when the user has not enabled the floating reader.

The accessibility service can be turned off at any time in
Settings → Accessibility → Kurdish Reader, and the app can be
uninstalled normally.

== Privacy ==

Kurdish TTS does not collect personal data, does not show ads, does not
track users, and does not contain analytics. Text read by the floating
reader is processed on-device and is not sent to any server.
