App Description
Record and submit fungal sightings from the field.
The FRDBI App is the official mobile companion to the Fungi Recording Database for Britain and Ireland (FRDBI). Designed for everyone from casual nature lovers to dedicated mycologists, the app makes it easy to record and submit fungal sightings directly from the field — with or without a data connection.
Simply search for a species by common or scientific name, pinpoint your location using GPS, attach photos from your camera or gallery, and submit your record to the FRDBI with just a few taps. Your contributions — including descriptions, coordinates, and associated organisms — are stored securely and synced to the national database, where they become part of the UK's growing body of biodiversity knowledge, made freely available through the NBN Atlas.
Recording fungi has never mattered more. The app supports citizen science efforts that inform conservation planning, ecological research, and environmental education across Britain and Ireland. Whether you're spotting a common species on a woodland walk or documenting a rare find, every record counts.
Anyone with an interest in fungi is welcome to get involved. Registration is free at frdbi.org.uk — once signed up, the app is your pocket field guide and recording tool in one.
