Our Kampung is an all-in-one app by Lions Befrienders (LB) which aims to empower seniors in crossing the grey digital divide and prepare them for a digital society. The main objectives of the app include
• Readying seniors for future pandemics.
• Developing social connectedness through digital means.
• Empowering seniors to navigate the digital world with confidence by weaving digitalisation into their daily lives.

Its user interface design adopts a senior-centric approach in consideration of seniors who have visual impairments, motor coordination problems and cognitive or memory deterioration. As such, some key elements of the senior-friendly design include:
• Large font size and bold font for key points.
• High contrast in colour choice.
• Use of universally understood icons or pictures.
• Provide audio as an alternative to words.
• Use simple touchscreen gestures (e.g. swiping, tapping) without need for typing.
• Avoid large blocks of text.
• Simple and consistent layout with easy-to-understand and intuitive navigation.

Key features of the app include:
• Senior's profile: to view points, check micro-job earnings, and check their wellness bar
• Event registration: to view and register for events at activities at the AACs online
• Volunteer and Micro-Jobs Opportunities: to contribute to the community
• Social Interest Groups (Community platform): to connect with others through the participation of seniors who share the same hobbies
• Pet Avatar Game: to promote continual adoption of digital technology and further strengthen skills and mindset through gamification

Tailored to the seniors’ needs and in enhancement of their quality of life, Our Kampung, provides seniors with the skills, support, and confidence needed to embrace technology in a controlled environment. Thereby instilling greater faith and motivation to develop key digital skills to navigate the digital spaces, embrace and adopt digital technology to meet their daily needs. With features that are relevant to their daily activities, seniors who were previously ambivalent and reluctant to use their devices will now see greater values in using these digital tools.
